It was Alberta Slow Jam time again! I made another game. Last year you may remember I made Oofoe Unseen, a game I’m still very proud of, and this year I made Tower Tuscula, a game I think I will still be proud of a year from now.
You play as the titular Count Tuskula. You need to get to the top floor of your tower by pushing around ice blocks to manipulate light coming in through your windows to alight jewels. You can’t touch the sunlight, though, obviously, because you’re a vampire.
I made a little level editor, which I haven’t done before. Usually I just use Game Maker’s built in room editor, but making my own allowed me to make lots of levels very quickly and tweak them as I played.
I missed the afterparty for the jam, sadly, but I was there in spirit as I got a message partway through asking how many levels it had. Ten people were apparently gathered around this game trying to figure them out. That felt good.
This game jam was ranked. Out of 19 entires, I won 1st in enjoyment and 3rd overall. Very not bad!
