Sternus

Sternus is a short story about a man getting swept up by a cult, somewhat based on my interactions I have at work with the sorts of people who write utopian texts. About half the people who read it think it’s funny, like intended, and the other half are taken aback by how dark it is. You’ll have to decide for yourself what it is! It was recently published as part of the Edmonton Public Library’s fourth Capital City Press Anthology. You can read it for free here: https://capitalcitypress.wordpress.com/2024/07/02/sternus/

Spritz the Happy Onion

Updated August 2025

Spritz the Happy Onion is now officially out! It enjoyed a busy and fruitful GDX debut. After three days of near constant playtesting with strangers, I collected a series of edits to include in a later update, but I am proud to declare most of them are nitpicks and the game is mostly received exactly the way I had hoped. The kids slowly learned to play carefully, the adults zoned out and had a good time, the gamers did their best to smash through it, failing about as constantly as the children, testing their skill to the absolute limit. It is a challenging game to throw yourself against, a relaxing game to spend an evening with, and a colourful, lively game to engage a curious mind. This was all my intent. Overall I’m very happy with it. This has the same smell as other projects that I’ve looked back on over the years and said “Yah. Nah. It’s really good.”

I’ve done almost no marketing for the game, but I’ve still gotten a few curious people who bought into it, a couple reviews scattered about the internets, all good. Feel free to leave one if you’ve played it; they give me power.

Buy it here! Makes a great gift.

Original article:

Spritz the Happy Onion is a video game in development by me! It is a momentum-based platformer in which you play as a little onion with a knife in his head named Spritz. Why does he have a knife in his head? He’s just unlucky, I guess. A monster from deep space has come to eat the moon, so it’s up to Spritz to gather the ingredients for a cake that will spoil it’s appetite.

Please wishlist the game on Steam! Wishlisting on Steam helps me a tonne!

Oofoe Unseen

Oofoe Unseen is a video game in which you fly around four big neon-coloured caves, destroying eyes that are mysteriously growing out of the walls. The gameplay is focused around flying, learning to manage your speed, and getting a feeling for how fast you’re able to turn in midair. The game’s main gimmick is how you accelerate; you can’t “thrust”, instead you build up speed by flying near to ground, walls, and ceilings. So if you need to go higher than your current speed will allow, you may need to fly off and “scoop up” some speed from a nearby surface.
